THE WORK
This piece captures the interior of the Peterskirche in Vienna using exclusively indigo tones. By removing the traditional gold colors, the focus shifts to the bare structural integrity of the dome. Light is utilized to make the massive stone appear weightless and airy, while this monochromatic approach highlights the complex shapes and deep shadows of the baroque carvings.
THE INSPIRATION
Part of the Light of Vienna collection, this work explores the total silence found inside the church, where city noise completely disappears. It captures a specific moment of quiet—like an indrawn breath—acting as a private sanctuary for the home. It celebrates the quiet power of a grand space and the peace that accompanies deep blue tones.
