THE WORK
This piece showcases the intricate beauty of carved stone. A single street lamp stands against the detailed patterns of the cathedral wall. I used soft layers of wash to make the stone look weathered yet glowing, while the vertical lines of the building and the lamp create a strong sense of height and peace.
THE INSPIRATION
Part of the Light of Vienna collection, this work explores the contrast between a modern lamp and ancient stone. I wanted to see how a small light anchors a grand building. Using thin washes, I let the light reflect off the paper for a soft effect, offering a quiet look at history meeting the present day in Vienna.
