THE WORK
This study in perspective and focal points uses high-transparency washes to define the facade, leaving the upper masonry light for an ethereal glow. An anchored, saturated red entrance—executed with a wet-on-dry technique—provides precise contrast against the architectural arches while preserving the luminosity of the paper.
THE INSPIRATION
As a key work within the Light of Vienna collection, this painting captures the Opera House as a living historical entity. It examines architecture as a vessel for culture. Formerly held in the artist's private collection since 2019, this piece is now released following its recent exhibition for the collector who values the soul of the city.
