THE WORK
This piece studies value contrast and atmospheric weight. Heavy indigo glazes applied wet on wet create a sky that exerts physical pressure against the architecture. The illuminated windows are achieved by lifting color to expose the raw paper grain, establishing a sharp internal light that anchors the structure against deep shadow.
THE INSPIRATION
The painting examines the structural tension of Vienna under severe atmospheric shifts. It contrasts the permanence of imperial stone with the volatile energy of an approaching storm. Isolating the glowing windows against a darkening facade reduces the capital to a precise study of architectural endurance and private space.
