THE WORK
Venice at dusk, almost entirely blue. The domes of a church float in mist across the water; a single gondola rests moored along the quay. An old iron lamp glows warm against the cold stone. One lit window burns gold high on the right. A lone figure stands at the water's edge, reflected in the wet pavement, looking out across the canal. The whole city is hushed, drowned in soft indigo.
THE INSPIRATION
The most romantic city in the world, built for two, and one figure stands alone at the water.
The gondola waits with no one to carry.
A warm lamp, a lit window, the quiet canal, and still the old question rises with the tide: who is there to share the beauty with?
