THE WORK
Two moments off the one coast. On the left, surfers wait in lilac-blue swell beneath pale granite cliffs crowned with green; a wave rises in the foreground. On the right, a small square study of a single-masted boat under sail in soft violet haze. The wild shore and the lone sailor — two halves of one grey-blue morning.

THE INSPIRATION
A cold sea, a patient wave, a single sail.
In moments you have to wait for and then the light breaks, and there it is.
